As time passes, though, Sari let another vision for her lawn take form, one that was inspired by the book Last Child in the Woods and its notion that unstructured outdoor play is fantastic for children' development. A little willow tunnel provides a secret-garden caliber to some course. "Tunnels can be made out of several matters," says Gore. "Let a tree or tree grow into the ground and cut back the undergrowth. Or weave willow wisps or green cuttings from an acacia or a grapevine."
