As time passes, however, Sari let another vision for her lawn take form, one that was motivated by the publication Last Child in the Woods and its notion that unstructured outdoor play is fantastic for kids' development. Gore enjoys tree trunks for children's outdoor spaces, both because they are a natural repurposed material and since"they can be swiped endlessly," she says. From the front lawn, the Lehrer kids use them as oversize steppingstones.
