Tasked with respecting the 1959 mid-century contemporary origins of the home, (fer) studio, LLP oversaw website enhancements of a Sherman Oaks hilltop house possessed by Davis Factor, photographer and creator of Smashbox. On the way, Factor purchased the house next door and his residence was enlarged to incorporate a 2,700-square-foot guest house.
Together with landscape architect Victoria Pakshong of [place] picture collaborative, (fer) studio designed a strategy for the enlarged house's natural upslope. A railroad-tie path traverses the whole width of the property, and the enlarged entryway/ driveway is constructed from concrete pavers and permeable Grasscrete.
