Maintaining its post-and-beam structure and rhythm, (fer) studio added a seat, cabana, and a gym with a personal patio serving the master suite. Along the way, Factor purchased the house next door and his home was enlarged to include a 2,700-square-foot guest house.

Along with landscape architect Victoria Pakshong of [place] picture collaborative, (fer) studio designed a strategy for the enlarged house's natural upslope. A railroad-tie path traverses the whole width of the property, and also the enlarged entryway/ driveway is made from concrete pavers and permeable Grasscrete. The pool and outdoor action zones are made with an emphasis on the horizontal lines of their house, maintaining a very low profile so that nothing obstructs that amazing view.
